Pause has announced that Nat Sloane CBE is to join as the organisation’s new Chair in February.
Nat, who is currently the Chair of Big Lottery Fund (England), brings his experience of social investment and venture philanthropy and working with organisations to deliver impact at scale to the Pause Board. He co-founded the first venture philanthropy trust fund in the UK and chairs Social and Sustainable Capital, one of the UK’s largest social investment funds. He is also a founding trustee and Chair of the endowment fund for the Education Endowment Foundation which aims to enable schools to raise academic attainment for children receiving free school meals in England.
Nat said of his appointment:
“I’m delighted to be joining Pause and honoured to be following Sophie in the Chair. The work that Pause does is inspirational and I am glad to be part of the next stage of its journey. I’m looking forward to working with our chief executive, Jules Hillier, her team and the Pause Board in furthering Pause’s work.”
Nat succeeds Sophie Humphreys, Pause Founder, as Chair. Sophie, who was appointed as OBE in the New Year’s Honours, will continue to act as an advisor and advocate for the Pause.
“It’s an exciting time for Pause and I am delighted that Nat has agreed to become our chair after a robust process that involved trustees, staff and women on the Pause programme. I know that he will lead with great vision and steer Pause into its next phase of growth and change. I look forward to supporting Nat and the rest of the organisation in my role as Founder and expect Pause to continue to go from strength to strength.”
