Nearly all women who work with Pause are, or have been, subject to domestic abuse. It remains one of the most common factors in referrals to children’s social care. Women who have had children removed face particular challenges when they experience domestic abuse, yet their needs are often overlooked. This can leave them without appropriate support and at continued risk of harm and retraumatisation.
