Getting involved is our term for what is sometimes called ‘participation’ or ‘involvement’. We use it to describe any activity where women with experience of the Pause programme are involved in decision-making that influences or shapes our work, with the aim of making things better both inside and outside of Pause.
Working together enables us to learn, solve challenges and grow as an organisation. Women with experience of the Pause programme get involved by:
- Being part of the Pause advisory group, which helps our board of trustees and national team make important decisions about how and why we do things
- Co-producing creative projects, such as our podcast series In a Mother’s Mind
- Shaping our national campaigns and influencing work
- Influencing local systems and services that work alongside Pause practices

How can you make your voice heard?
Whether you are currently working with Pause or not, there are lots of activities you can do to raise your voice.
This guide is designed for women who have had children removed from their care and would like to influence positive change to the services and systems surrounding care proceedings. We have included helpful tips and activities to support you to make your voice heard.
