Alongside our #NeverMoreThanOnce gallery, we are sharing the experiences of women who have completed the 18-month Pause Programme. In this blog post, Vicky reflects on her relationship with her Pause Practitioner and the impact the programme has had on her life.
My journey with Pause started a little different to what you would expect. I joined Pause in May 2019. After many failed attempts to reach me due to an abusive relationship, they persistently came back to the property for me. Long story short, my Pause Practitioner saved my life from my perpetrator when he tried to take my life. She walked in like a superhero. I took her hand and together we walked a journey of many tears and plenty of laughter through the many services I then had to battle through.
I was six stone and very poorly when they found me. Without my practitioner and the Pause team’s determination, I would not be here today and my children would be without a mother. My practitioner was by my side through everything, day in, day out. She taught me how to understand my situation and the reasons behind every decision that led to my children’s removal. She stood with me until the day I regained joint custody of my children again. Until this day, we still have a very strong relationship.
The bond our community have in Plymouth is like a family and that is the only thing we feel when we get together regularly is love, passion and growth. I’ve never been more inspired by a team as I have Pause. Watching Pause grow as a charity and watching each woman grow is a feeling beyond any words imaginable.
