By Ekudiyio, Pause Graduate and member of the Advisory Group
I’m Ekudiyio and I’m a member of the Pause women’s Advisory Group, which is a group of Pause graduates who come together to help Pause make decisions.
I joined the Advisory Group group in 2020 and have enjoyed continuing to be a part of Pause as a member of the group. I have enjoyed everything we have done. I have been given opportunities that I wouldn’t have had if I hadn’t worked with Pause.
I was treated unkindly by services in the past and so when I heard about the kind of help that can now be offered by Pause, I was very happy about this opportunity. I was in care when I was a child and have shared with the Advisory Group my story. Sharing my story has had a positive vibration on my soul. Many other women have also had bad experiences of proceedings in the family courts. I am not alone.
I am a very positive minded woman who believes that better help is possible. That women should not be made to suffer just because of our mental health. When our children are removed, our homes are destroyed in a way that the scar cannot ever be healed and which we take with us to our graves.
My own Pause Practitioner in 2017 helped me to have so many marvellous opportunities. She was a nice, loving and caring person. She showed me a lot of things I did not know how to do and we had fun together too, we even went horse riding. She helped me with so much more than I can even explain and I miss working with her very much.
Being part of the Advisory Group means I now have had this opportunity in writing my very own blogs. I have been given this opportunity to share my views and tell my stories to other Pause women and staff. I hope to be able to help other women in receiving services and support in the future.
So I am very happy that we have our Pause women’s Advisory Group for us vulnerable women. If we as women continue staying strong and not giving up the fight, I believe together with Pause we will conquer.
